Education and Academic Experience: Dr. Xiaohui Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in Neurobiology from Shanghai Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1999 after he graduated from Hangzhou University with a bachelor of Biology in 1994. He conducted postdoctoral study on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in Prof. Mu-ming Poo's laboratory at UC San Diego and Berkeley (USA), respectively, supported by a long-term postdoctoral fellowship from International Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP, LTF 00076/2000-B), in 1999-2002. In 2003, he joined the Institute of Neuroscience(ION, based at Shanghai), CAS,with the elite awards of the CAS Hundred Talents Program (China) and the HFSP Career Development Award (CDA0019/2003). He had worked at the ION and the State Key Laboratory of Neuroscience as an associate investigator (2004-2007) and then a principal investigator/lab head (2007-2013). Now he is a full professor in the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning at Beijing Normal University.
